I Built a Local-First Productivity App with Rust and Tauri

Most productivity apps require users to create an account, store data in the cloud, and pay a monthly subscription. Cyanote is a local-first productivity app for macOS built with Rust and Tauri. Cyanote aims to be different by keeping everything local on your computer, eliminating the need for accounts, cloud storage, or subscriptions.

The app uses an SQLite database, a modern web frontend, and Rust for backend logic, offering performance and safety. Cyanote currently includes features such as notes, to-do management, calendar, habit tracking, clipboard history, boards and tables, wiki-style links, full-text search, password-protected notes, kanban boards, pomodoro timer, routines, and more.

The challenge lies in keeping the app focused and not adding distractions. Cyanote is currently a one-time purchase without subscriptions. The author is seeking feedback from users and those who have built desktop apps with Rust or Tauri, and is particularly interested in hearing about the biggest advantage of building desktop apps with Rust + Tauri today.
