Goldbloom to step down as chair of Hockey Canada board of directors

Hockey Canada has announced that Jonathan Goldbloom will step down as chair of the organization's board of directors, effective October 5. Goldbloom, a Montreal resident, declined to seek re-election when his term ended in December. He will be succeeded by an interim chair appointed by the board until Hockey Canada's annual meeting on December 5.

Goldbloom joined Hockey Canada in December 2022 as part of a transition board following a report by former Supreme Court Justice Thomas Cromwell, which addressed governance issues after a sexual assault scandal involving members of the 2018 Canadian men's junior hockey team. Elected to a three-year term as chair in November 2023, Goldbloom took over from Hugh L. Fraser.

In a statement, Goldbloom expressed gratitude for his time serving on the board and praised Hockey Canada's progress. He is confident in the organization's readiness to achieve new heights, stating that the board and staff are well-positioned to lead the national winter sport to unprecedented success. Goldbloom looks forward to shifting his focus to supporting Team Canada as their No. 1 fan during the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic quadrennial.
