First National Bank Accra Marathon brings back full race for 2026

The First National Bank Accra Marathon is set to return in November with a full 42.2km race and a new route through Accra, marking the fourth consecutive year of the bank's partnership with the Dansoman Keep Fit Club. The event, themed "Go the Distance," aligns with the bank's commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles, resilience, and community engagement.

First National Bank Ghana's Chief Executive Officer, Sylvia Inkoom, expressed the bank's pride in supporting an event that celebrates health, endurance, resilience, and community spirit. This year, a significant change is the new race route, designed to enhance the experience for participants and organizers alike. The race will commence and conclude at the Accra Sports Stadium, weaving through some of Accra's principal streets.

The Dansoman Keep Fit Club's Chairman, Benjamin Ahulu, confirmed the return of the full marathon, which previously served as the main event for the past two years, along with a 10km corporate open race and a junior race for rising stars. The expanded program aims to bolster the development of long-distance running in Ghana while providing opportunities for elite athletes, corporate teams, and young runners to compete.

Contestants will vie for cash prizes, medals, souvenirs, and other awards. Notably, outstanding performers may also secure fully sponsored spots to represent Ghana at international marathons. Now in its fourth decade, the marathon stands as Ghana's largest road race, drawing over 4,000 elite athletes, corporate teams, recreational runners, and members of the public each year.
