Ekiti Govt resolves Ayetoro crises, pledges due process in granting autonomy to communities

The Ekiti State Government has assured that it will not misuse the law when establishing autonomous communities, and such privilege will only be granted to towns that meet the threshold set by the State Edict. The Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, addressed a protracted crisis between Oba Samuel Olufisan Ajayi of Ayetoro Ekiti and some elites over accusations of missing transformers and chieftaincy disputes.

Oba Ajayi expressed his disgust over allegations that he sold six transformers donated to the community, calling the accusations defamatory and derogatory. The Deputy Governor warned the community against spreading rumors without verifiable evidence, as it could lead to a credibility crisis. She urged the monarch and concerned elites to form a committee to resolve the issue and present a report to the government within a reasonable time frame.

The government stated that no town will be granted autonomy without meeting the set standards, and the Deputy Governor emphasized the importance of stability and progress for every town.
