Drug mule arrested with cocaine at OR Tambo

A 45-year-old man was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport on Monday for allegedly trafficking cocaine worth over R800,000. Police intercepted the suspect while he was en route to Hong Kong with the drugs concealed inside his luggage. Police spokesperson Amanda van Wyk revealed that this is the second drug mule arrested at the airport in four days, following the arrest of a 54-year-old man on September 3, 2026.

Van Wyk stated that these recent successes at South Africa's busiest airport demonstrate the South African Police Service's (SAPS) ongoing efforts to disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking networks through intelligence-driven operations at the country's ports of entry.
