Chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, Kenneth Okonkwo, has offered insight into the recent criticism of Peter Obi by his former running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed. Speaking on ARISE Television’s Daybreak programme, Okonkwo suggested that Datti's comments may stem from a "post-political identity crisis" following their involvement in the 2023 presidential election.
During the interview, Okonkwo, who serves as the spokesman for ADC candidate Atiku Abubakar, stated that the dissolution of the political structure that supported the 2023 campaign could have left Datti disillusioned with Obi. Okonkwo recalled the high spirits surrounding the Obi-Baba-Ahmed campaign, noting that supporters were motivated by their belief that it could bring about a significant shift in Nigeria's political landscape.
The Nollywood actor and politician emphasized that the campaign stood out due to the genuine desire of its supporters to contribute rather than for personal gains.
