Anwar says Cabinet consensus provides stability for govt to plan, implement policies

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 8 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that the Cabinet's cooperation and consensus among its members is at a high level, contributing to the nation's political stability. This has enabled the government to effectively plan and implement its development agenda based on clear policies and a stable political environment.

Anwar acknowledged that while the government's performance has been commendable due to clear policies, political stability, and Cabinet cooperation, social media may present a different perspective. However, he emphasized that this strong consensus provides an indication of stability, allowing the government to plan for the country's betterment.

Anwar urged the government to leverage this stability and continue striving to improve its performance, rather than becoming complacent with achievements. He also highlighted that economic growth in the second quarter of 2026 exceeded expectations, growing by six percent compared to the previous quarter's 5.4 percent. This strong performance brought Malaysia's first-half 2026 growth to 5.7 percent, positioning the economy for the government's projected growth of between 4.0 percent and 5.0 percent for the year.
