Anwar says Cabinet consensus provides stability for govt to plan, implement policies

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 8 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that consensus and cooperation among Cabinet members are currently at a high level, contributing to the nation's political stability. This stability allows the government to effectively plan and implement its development agenda, guided by clear policies and a stable political environment.

Anwar acknowledged that their performance has been commendable, but stated that despite occasional negative portrayals on social media, the overall consensus among the Cabinet fosters stability and enables strategic planning. He urged the government to build on this stability to continue implementing policies for national benefit, urging all parties not to become complacent with their achievements and to strive for further improvement.

Anwar also highlighted that Malaysia's economic growth in the second quarter of 2026 surpassed expectations, growing by six percent compared to the previous quarter's 5.4 percent. This strong performance marks the country's best second-quarter growth since 2014, bringing the first-half 2026 growth to 5.7 percent and positioning the Malaysian economy well to meet its projected growth of 4.0 to 5.0 percent for the year.
