47-Year-Old Kanpur Shopkeeper Dies After Being Brutally Attacked By 'Drunk' Men For Objecting To Roadside Urination

A 47-year-old shopkeeper named Amit Kumar passed away in Kanpur after a brutal attack by a group of drunk youths who objected to him urinating on the road. The incident occurred near Om Chauraha in the Kakadev police station area on Saturday night. Amit, who owned a shop called Prem Ad, was returning home at around 11 pm when a group of youths nearby began urinating in the middle of the street.

Amit reportedly protested against this behavior, which led to an altercation. The youths surrounded him and began assaulting him, with his son, Rudra Pratap Singh, stating that they verbally abused their father before others joined the attack. Bystanders tried to intervene but were also beaten and threatened. During the assault, Amit was repeatedly hit on the head with a brick, resulting in severe injuries.

He was initially taken to a private hospital and later transferred to Anurag Hospital due to the seriousness of his condition. Amit succumbed to his injuries on Monday evening, two days after the attack. Police reviewed CCTV footage from the scene, which captured the four youths assaulting Amit amidst a crowd. The police have seized the footage and are investigating to identify and arrest the suspects, who will face justice once apprehended.
