18-year-old woman shot dead in Turkana after being mistaken for spy

An 18-year-old woman named Nachomin Losuron was tragically shot dead in Kapedo, Turkana County. Police claim she was mistaken for a Pokot spy and was shot in the chest and both hands at Kamuge Dispensary. The young woman had returned home after a lengthy phone call when she was confronted by a local who suspected her of being a spy and opened fire.

Losuron was transported to the dispensary, where she succumbed to her injuries. The suspect reportedly fled the scene and is currently being pursued by family members. The deceased's family has not yet formally reported the incident to the police, and instead, relatives are taking the lead in pursuing the alleged suspect. Authorities are set to investigate the circumstances of the shooting and apprehend the suspect.

Similar gun attacks are not uncommon in the region as efforts are being made to curb the issue. Additionally, the decomposed body of a 64-year-old man named Athumani Khamis Abdallah, who had been missing since last week, has been discovered at Takaungu Creek in Kilifi South Sub-County. Police found the body on Monday washed up by a high tide and are investigating the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and death.
