'There'll be a price': A look at Trump's take on the Lindsay Clancy case

President Donald Trump commented on the Lindsay Clancy case following a mistrial due to a hung jury. He described the situation as "terrible" and a "horrible tragedy" in his initial public remarks about the case. Reporters inquired if Trump was following the trial, to which he responded that it was on television constantly, making it difficult to ignore.

Clancy faces three counts of murder for the deaths of her children: Cora, 5; Dawson, 3; and Callan, 8 months. The prosecution claims Clancy intentionally, rationally, and swiftly killed her children on January 24, 2023. Her defense team argues that she was not criminally responsible due to a psychotic episode from postpartum mental illness.

Jurors spent more than 38 hours deliberating over the charges, ultimately returning a verdict 11 to one against Clancy. Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial after the jury failed to reach a verdict for the third time. It is possible that a new trial could occur, which Trump referred to as "too bad."

If convicted of murder, Clancy faces life in prison without parole. However, if she is found not guilty due to lack of criminal responsibility, she would be committed to a state mental health facility. Lindsay pleaded not guilty to the murder charges and currently remains at the mental health facility where she is being held.
