Speeding Up The End Of The War Without Missiles For Ukraine Is Impossible, But The West Still Hopes For Negotiations With Russia

Speeding up the end of the Russia-Ukraine conflict by forgoing anti-ballistic and other missile deliveries to Ukraine is deemed impossible, yet Western partners continue to believe an agreement with Russia is feasible without imposing significant pressure, notes international political scientist Dmytro Levus on FREEДОМ TV. While Europe and the United States broadly acknowledge the urgent need for missile armament for Ukraine, Washington's approach to the matter is more complex.

Levus explained that this perception of potential dialogue with Russia, even without coercive measures, is a recurring occurrence, encompassing diplomatic visits, discussions, and even the CIA director's trip. He also addressed the notion that granting Ukraine licenses to produce Patriot missiles is a prolonged process that wouldn't resolve the current predicament, which he deemed flawed.

Levus emphasized that Ukraine can expedite the production of sophisticated weaponry, thereby reducing its reliance on external supplies and diminishing Russia's capabilities. He stressed the critical importance of intensifying pressure on the aggressor and supplying Kyiv with all available resources, including advanced air defense systems.

President Zelenskyy advocates for pairing strikes on Russia with increased pressure and tighter sanctions, along with providing Ukraine with every possible resource. Spain's missile deliveries and Kallas's constant advocacy for Ukraine's support are cited as examples of this growing international commitment. However, Levus cautioned that while the understanding exists among Western partners, there are underlying concerns about the extent of involvement in the war and whether it is worth risking so much in aid to Ukraine.
