Sick patient served rice with a cockroach at Spanish hospital

This incident has prompted the CCOO trade union to raise concerns about the condition of the hospital kitchen and the measures being taken to prevent pests from contaminating patient meals. The union claims that workers had reported seeing cockroaches in the kitchen prior to the incident, which occurred on the fifth floor of the hospital.

Hospital management has described the event as "isolated and exceptional," apologizing to the patient and stating that additional pest-control measures have been implemented. However, the union argues that the kitchen's poor condition, including cracks and a door in need of repair, and the vacancy of the head of the kitchen service position, all contribute to the problem.

They are calling for a more thorough examination of the kitchen's condition and the pest-control system, as well as an explanation of the measures being taken to prevent future incidents.
