The rescue team transported the individuals to Kampung Lelar at 8.45pm on the same day, before transferring them to the health clinic for a medical evaluation. All six hikers are currently in good health and have not sustained any injuries. The rescue efforts were initiated after air surveillance teams spotted a smoke signal in a remote forest region, indicating that the group was approximately an hour away from Kem Kulim.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department director Datuk Sayani Saidon confirmed that the smoke signal was discovered during an aerial survey. Earlier reports had stated that the six hikers had become unresponsive after joining the Trans Gerah Expedition at Gunung Gerah, located within the Lojing Permanent Forest Reserve in Gua Musang. The expedition group consisted of a married couple, their two children, and two experienced mountain guides.
The group's members were Wan Ahmad Aslam Wan Zairudin, 39, his wife Siti Zulaikha Norizan, 39, and their two offspring - Diya Raisha, 13, and Ahmad Raief Wan Ahmad, 9. The two mountain guides accompanying them were Shafiee Sidek, 49, and Hazman Mamat, 43.
