QC, Manateq discuss measures to strengthen industrial sector

The Qatar Chamber and Manateq, the Economic Zones Company, have been discussing measures to fortify cooperation and coordination to bolster the industrial sector's growth and improve the business environment for investors in Qatar. This dialogue occurred during a joint session between Qatar Chamber's Industry Committee and Manateq, led by Qatar Chamber Chairman, HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, and Manateq Chairman and CEO, Eng Khalid bin Ahmad Al Obaidli.

The meeting convened Qatar Chamber board members, Industry Committee members, and Manateq's executive team. The duo deliberated on enhancing collaboration and communication between the Chamber and Manateq, particularly concerning the challenges faced by industrial investors and obstacles within industrial and economic zones. They also aimed to gain a better understanding of the industrial sector's needs and identified practical solutions to foster a more conducive and competitive business environment.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim assured the Qatar Chamber's dedication to strengthening its ties with Manateq and gaining a deeper insight into the company's future plans for industrial and logistics zones, as well as their role in supporting the ongoing development of Qatar's industrial sector. He emphasized closer coordination between the two entities would help identify industrial investors' challenges and contribute to addressing their concerns.

Eng Khalid bin Ahmad Al Obaidli echoed the importance of deeper discussions on the sector's concerns. He reiterated Manateq's commitment to working closely with partners and stakeholders to create a business environment that nurtures the growth and sustainability of investors' businesses and positions the company as a reliable partner to the private sector.

He highlighted Manateq's efforts in streamlining the investor journey and enhancing the overall investor experience through its Business Services Center and digital channels, such as the Partners Portal and mobile application.

Participants in the meeting raised critical issues for the industrial sector, including the need for clearer classification between factories and workshops, provision of liquefied natural gas to SMEs, affordable accommodation for workers, and transportation services within industrial zones. They also proposed establishing a higher industrial council and improving the road infrastructure serving industrial zones.
