GTA to approve sweetened drink test certificates via Dhareeba from November 1

The General Tax Authority (GTA) announced on Monday that starting November 1, 2026, it will approve analysis certificates for sweetened drink registrations electronically via the Dhareeba platform. This move aims to streamline the product registration process by eliminating the need for manual attachments.

Taxpayers will submit product registrations on the Dhareeba platform, after which they will deliver samples to accredited labs for testing. Upon the lab's approval, the test results and certificates will automatically sync back to the Dhareeba platform. This direct electronic integration will streamline the process, increase accuracy, and enhance inter-agency connectivity.

The implementation of this new system is timed with the expanded excise tax on sweetened drinks. By integrating directly with GTA-registered labs, the new procedure aligns with the General Tax Authority's broader strategy to enhance digital services across various sectors.
