Panthers HC Dave Canales provides exciting update on TE Darren Waller ahead of Week 1

Carolina Panthers coach Dave Canales expressed optimism about tight end Darren Waller's readiness for the team's upcoming regular-season opener against the Chicago Bears. Waller, who joined the Panthers just three weeks ago, is described as both "big and fast." Canales noted that Waller has been able to quickly grasp the new team's playbook, making the transition from Miami Dolphins easier than he might have anticipated given the difference in terminology between the two teams.

Physically, Waller is also in good shape, running at a reported speed of 20.8 miles per hour during practice routes. Despite turning 34 years old on Sunday, Waller's performance in his previous season with Miami, where he recorded 24 receptions for 283 yards and six touchdowns in 12 games, suggests he could bring valuable receiving capability to the Panthers' offense. Currently, Waller is one of five tight ends on Carolina's 53-man roster, alongside Tommy Tremble, Mitchell Evans, Ja Tavion Sanders, and Feleipe Franks.
