No special treatment for unruly customers claiming political links, says Cyberabad top cop

Cyberabad Police Commissioner M. Ramesh has directed hotel, bar, restaurant, pub, and hookah center owners to adhere strictly to licensing and operating norms. At a meeting, he emphasized that establishments must possess all required permits and licenses, including clearance from the Fire Department, CMC, Chief Medical and Health Officer, and Town Planning Department.

Licences issued via the CPPMS portal should also be renewed punctually. Ramesh noted a low number of officially licensed establishments in Cyberabad despite numerous hotels, restaurants, and similar businesses operating there. He warned of legal action for establishments found operating without proper licenses. Business owners expressed concerns over different departments having varying timelines for licences and permits, to which Ramesh directed officials to coordinate and address these issues while ensuring compliance.

He made clear that pubs, bars, and similar establishments must close at permitted times, with no alcohol sales after closing hours. Minors are prohibited from entering bars and restaurants. The Commissioner also requested management to ensure staff have valid Aadhaar verification, identification documents, and proof of age, while prohibiting the hiring of minors.

Business owners were instructed to monitor customer behavior and refrain from giving special treatment to customers claiming political links or engaging in rudeness towards staff, as the law would apply equally to all. Ramesh urged establishments to prevent altercations and clashes between groups to avoid law-and-order problems and public inconvenience.

He emphasized the importance of preventing narcotics and banned substances within bars and pubs. For hookah centers, Ramesh stated the ban on hookah activities in Telangana and warned of strict action, including penalties of up to seven years' imprisonment and fines of up to ₹2 lakh, for violations. The Commissioner reiterated that the Cyberabad police aim to support legally operating businesses but will take strict action against those violating laws and regulations.
