NNPCL reacts as NDLEA intercepts branded truck with 2,145kg cannabis

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, has clarified that a truck carrying 2,145kg of cannabis seized by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, in Ondo State is not part of the state-owned firm. NNPCL is collaborating with NARTO to gather more information and determine the circumstances surrounding the use of the company's old branding on the vehicle.

The intercepted fuel tanker, believed to have been branded with NNPCL's logo, was said to have contained drugs concealed in a secret compartment. According to NNPCL, the vehicle with registration number MKA 960 XC is neither owned by the company nor part of its official fleet or authorized dealers. The company's logo displayed on the vehicle does not match NNPC Ltd.'s current branding, and it does not appear in the company's asset database.

NNPCL emphasizes that they take unauthorized use of their corporate identity seriously, particularly when it is linked to illegal activities. The company is reviewing its brand-protection and asset-monitoring protocols and may take legal action against any misuse of its corporate identity.
