Mr Eazi recalls 2016 London concert as moment he became a ‘musician’

Nigerian Afrobeats artist Mr Eazi has shared that his first headline concert in London in 2016 marked his transformation into a professional musician. During the July 22, 2016, performance at O2 Kentish Town, the enthusiastic response from fans, including their faithful singing of his songs after he handed them the microphone, convinced him that music had become a serious undertaking.

Mr Eazi, who previously ran a used mobile phone business in Lagos while pursuing music on the side, decided to keep his music career under wraps as he feared it might damage his credibility as a businessman. The London show, where he personally promoted the event, was a pivotal moment for him. He recounted how seeing the massive crowd at O2 Kentish Town on July 22, 2016, solidified his identity as an artiste and gave him the confidence to pursue music more openly.

Since that concert, Mr Eazi has become one of Nigeria's leading Afrobeats artists, while also continuing his entrepreneurial ventures.
