Man remanded for 3 days in Felda land sale probe

A man in his 50s, suspected of potential abuse of power in connection with Felda land sales, has been remanded for three days to aid investigations, according to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC). The individual, who is currently receiving medical treatment at Putrajaya Hospital due to health concerns, was ordered to remain detained until September 9 by magistrate Ezrene Zakaria following a request from the MACC.

The case is being scrutinized under Section 16 of the MACC Act 2009, according to MACC chief commissioner Abd Halim Aman. Earlier this day, a former Felda general manager, who carries a "Datuk" title, received a five-day remand for investigative purposes. The arrests of the two men took place at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya, following their visit to provide statements.

This occurred weeks after Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim mentioned that the government would examine Felda's issues, following the release of a royal commission of inquiry report on Tabung Haji (TH). The PM stated that Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim had emphasized that investigations into statutory bodies should not cease at TH.

Last week, the MACC initiated seven investigations into alleged irregularities, abuse of power, and corruption within Felda and its related company, Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd.
