Los estudios de Formación Profesional de Grado Superior marcan un récord en España

In the 2024-2025 academic year, enrollment in professional training programs at the higher degree level in Spain reached a record high, representing 37.1% of the combined enrollment of Bachillerato and Grade 2 Vocational Training cycles (CFGM), the highest figure in the past two decades and significantly above the 25.5% in 2002-2003.

The enrollment in Grade 2 Vocational Training cycles, both in-person and online, reached a century-high record this year, with a particularly striking 42.5% for men (21.8% in 2002-2003), although growth also shows among female students. This evolution is often interpreted as a sign that families and students are changing their preferences towards professional training and away from Bachillerato, but this increase in secondary education enrollment by CFGM students has not come at the expense of Bachillerato, as its share has not decreased while the weight of CFGM students in total Bachillerato and CFGM enrollment increases less than the weight of CFGM in enrollment.
