Kochi Metro’s Pink Line stations to showcase Keralam’s cultural heritage

Kochi Metro’s Kakkanad extension, scheduled for the Pink Line, will feature elements of Keralam’s heritage, culture and tradition at each of its 11 stations. Similar to the Blue Line, with themes reflecting the uniqueness of their locations, each station will have its own cultural focus. The Pink Line will start at JLN Stadium and head east toward Palarivattom Junction.

Due to space limitations, this station will have entry and exit points only on the northern side. Its theme, 'Cartoons — Lines of Laughter: Keralam and Beyond,' acknowledges the state’s numerous talented cartoonists.

The station at Alinchuvadu, a larger one, will be known as 'Kasavu and Beyond: Keralam Handloom,' honoring the heritage of handloom weavers. Another station, Chembumukku, will showcase 'Musical Instruments of Keralam.' The station at Vazhakkala will have 'Lamps of Keralam' as its theme, while Padamugal’s station will incorporate elements of the 'Legacy of the Coir Industry — The Golden Fibre of Keralam.'

The Civil Station Junction, or Collectorate Junction, in Kakkanad, will be the most prominent station, themed around 'Aranmula Kannadi — The Mirror of Heritage.' The following station, at Cochin SEZ, will feature 'Ornaments of Keralam.' The station at Chittethukara, near the Water Metro terminal, will display elements of 'Keralam’s Iconic Snake Boats — The Majestic Vallam Kali.'

Further along the route, closer to the IT corridor, Kinfra Park station will highlight 'Kalaripayattu,' Keralam’s famed martial art. The Infopark station will showcase 'Kathakali,' a unique art form popular in north Keralam. The terminal station at SmartCity will be dedicated to 'Theyyam,' another unique art form from the region. Overall, the theme for the Pink Line stations is to convey the message, 'One Journey, Many Stories, Infinite Memories,' to metro commuters.
