“It’s a lie” – Kristo Asafo denies attempt to exhume founder’s remains

Reports circulating that the leadership of the Kristo Asafo Mission attempted to exhume the remains of their late founder, Emeritus Prof. Ing. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, at the Kantanka Museum in Gomoa Mpota, Central Region, are false. Dr Kwasi Agyei Safo, Deputy General Secretary in charge of Operations and Projects, firmly denied these allegations.

He emphasized that the church leadership, accompanied by security personnel, visited the museum on Sunday, September 6, solely for the purpose of inspecting the premises and conducting an inventory of its properties.

The visit followed the Interior Ministry's decision to revoke the license of the church's former private security firm, which had previously provided protection to the church's installations. Dr Agyei Safo explained that the church had to contract Goldman Security Limited to ensure the security of its properties after losing its previous security provider. He further stated that the inspection and inventory exercise was necessary to prevent future disputes over missing items and to maintain a secure environment.

Tensions arose when guards at the facility refused entry to the church and its security team, insisting they needed authorization from former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo or Osebo the Zaraman. Despite military personnel arriving to de-escalate the situation and verifying the church's security contract, they too were denied access.

Dr Agyei Safo questioned the exhumation claims, pointing out that the key to the mausoleum where the late founder is buried is held by church leadership. He emphasized that the mausoleum key being in church hands makes it impossible for anyone to have gone there to exhume the body. He reiterated that the visit was strictly for security, inspection, and inventory purposes.
