Ghana Post delivered over 85,000 passports to applicants’ homes in seven months – Sam George

During the Government Accountability Series on September 7, 2026, the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, revealed that Ghana Post had delivered over 85,000 passports to applicants' homes in just seven months, between January and July 2026. Mr. George provided these figures during his address, emphasizing the expansion of Ghana Post's doorstep delivery service.

According to him, a total of 85,638 passports were delivered during this period, bringing the cumulative number of passports delivered through the service since its inception in May 2025 to 190,781. To accommodate the increasing demand, Ghana Post bolstered its delivery fleet by acquiring 41 motorbikes and five pickup vehicles, aiming to enhance its capacity for efficient last-mile delivery services nationwide.

The Minister also announced that Ghana Post had secured new institutional logistics arrangements with CotVets and Telecel Ghana, further reinforcing efforts to improve its operations and replenish its delivery fleet. Additionally, Ghana Post's EMS service has been recognized with Silver performance status, making Ghana the only African country to achieve this classification globally.

The developments, according to Mr. George, reflect the government's broader initiatives to modernize Ghana Post and enhance the delivery of public services to citizens. He highlighted that the expansion of passport delivery to doorsteps was aimed at making the passport application process more convenient, thereby reducing the need for applicants to visit collection centers.
