Dubai’s Onpassive Metro Station renamed Garmin Metro Station

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially changed the name of Onpassive Metro Station to Garmin Metro Station. The decision comes after a 10-year agreement between RTA and Garmin, the global technology giant renowned for its smart devices and GPS navigation products. The agreement, facilitated by AMIT Retail LLC, Garmin's exclusive distributor in the UAE, marks the beginning of a new era for Dubai Metro and private-sector partnerships in the transport sector.

The signing of the deal took place at the Dubai Metro, attended by representatives from AMIT Retail, Hypermedia, and Mada Media, the organization that manages Dubai's out-of-home advertising. Mada Media will oversee the naming rights agreements under its concession arrangement with RTA. Abdul Mohsen Kalbat, CEO of RTA's Rail Agency, expressed that Garmin's involvement exhibits the initiative's success in luring leading brands from various sectors.

Mansoor Al Sabahi, CEO of Mada Media, highlighted that Garmin is the first global brand to secure naming rights to a station on Dubai Metro's Red Line, marking a significant milestone for the program. Clifton Pemble, CEO of Garmin, stated that the partnership aims to connect Garmin's technology and products with travelers, while opening up more opportunities for private-sector investment in Dubai.

The renaming process will unfold from September to the end of November 2026. During this transition, signs directing passengers to the station will be updated, and onboard announcements will also adopt the new name. RTA has requested passengers to remain vigilant about these changes as the new station name is rolled out across its various services.
