Dubai launches ‘Click and Travel’ to speed up airport checks

Dubai has officially introduced its new "Click and Travel" service at the country's main airport, aiming to streamline the immigration process and significantly cut down check-in times. During a press conference at Dubai International Airport, officials unveiled the mobile-based system, which employs biometric fingerprinting, facial recognition, and electronic passport scanning to process passengers' entry and exit details in just 12 to 15 seconds.

The service, designed to boost efficiency during busy travel periods and emergencies, was tested during a pilot phase that saw over 31,000 passengers processed between its initial launch in May 2026 and August of the same year. Unlike conventional procedures, the mobile system enables officers to move freely through the airport, handling passengers outside of traditional counters, thus offering greater flexibility in managing passenger flow.

Phase one of the initiative began in October 2025 at Terminal 3, before the service was extended to all airport terminals in May 2026. Following its successful pilot and expansion, the service was launched officially on September 7, 2026, and is now accessible to UAE citizens, residents, GCC nationals, and visitors.

GDRFA Dubai highlighted that the technology not only expedites the immigration process but also enhances operational flexibility for airport staff, allowing them to adapt quickly to varying passenger volumes and manage congestion effectively during peak periods and emergencies.
