Düsseldorf - The Dax opened at 25,976 points on Monday, a slight 0.3 percent lower. The absence of major movements in the Dax throughout the day is expected due to the USA's "Labor Day" holiday, which has closed its markets today. The previous Friday's Dax closed at nearly the same level, ending at 26,046 points. After three losing days at the beginning of the previous week, the index stabilized somewhat over the weekend, managing to surpass the 26,000-point mark and maintain it for two consecutive days.

It remains to be seen if the leading index can stay above this threshold this week. While investors have apparently managed to dispel their concerns over geo-political and monetary uncertainties for now, the situation remains fragile according to CapTrader Chief Market Analyst Timo Emden. Last week, signs of potential relaxation in the Middle East were prominent, but the weekend saw a resurgence of hostilities between the USA and Iran in the Strait of Hormuz, focusing investor attention on persistently high oil prices. Concerns about a longer-term disruption of oil supply from the Middle East are growing.
