David Lynch makes bold Florian Wirtz prediction after recent criticism

David Lynch has confidently predicted Florian Wirtz to become Liverpool's Player of the Season, despite recent criticism of the German midfielder's performance. Speaking to Dave Davis on Anfield Index's Media Matters podcast following Liverpool's 2-0 victory over Ipswich Town, Lynch acknowledged that Wirtz's performance could be difficult to evaluate.

However, Lynch backed Wirtz to lead the club in 2023-2024 after highlighting his brilliant football during the first half of the match. The Liverpool player of the year prediction came as Wirtz was still searching for complete consistency at Anfield. Lynch praised Wirtz's link play, which got Liverpool on the front foot, and also credited the midfielder for contributing to chances without necessarily receiving the final statistical credit.

He believes Liverpool is improving at finding Wirtz in dangerous areas and that the midfielder needs to be a bit tidier and more precise in his passing. Despite the praise, Lynch is not arguing that Wirtz has already reached his best level for Liverpool, but rather expects the details to improve as the season progresses.
