Cops probing claims Hadi was offered US backing to topple BN govt [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR - Police are probing allegations that PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang was offered assistance by the United States in an attempt to overthrow the Barisan Nasional (BN) administration in 2014, the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department has announced. Director Datuk M Kumar S Muthuvelu revealed that 12 police reports have been submitted regarding the matter, and statements have been obtained from 12 witnesses.

The investigation is being conducted under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code, which pertains to statements that may incite public alarm, and carries a potential sentence of up to two years in prison, a fine, or both. Additionally, the case falls under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, which deals with the misuse of network facilities or services, and may result in a fine of up to RM500,000, imprisonment for up to two years, or both.

M Kumar announced that Hadi's statement will be recorded soon to expedite the investigation process. He cautioned the public against speculating on the matter, urging them to exercise responsible behavior on social media and avoid making statements that could disrupt public order and safety.
