Cops probe Hadi under Penal Code, MCMC Act

Bukit Aman CID director M Kumar reported that the case involving PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang would be investigated under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. The allegation against Hadi stems from his claim that the US offered to collaborate with the Islamic party to remove the Barisan Nasional government in 2014.

Hadi made this statement during PAS's 72nd annual meeting in Kelantan on Sunday, alongside then-PAS assistant secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan and Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, who was Hadi's political secretary at the time. Both Takiyuddin and Samsuri firmly rejected the offer. The US embassy has since refuted Hadi's claim, stating that the US never sought to influence Malaysia's political leadership.
