Bauchi senator denies bandit link, insists viral videos fake

At least 26 states in Nigeria struggled to meet their personnel costs in 2025, as they continued to rely on allocations from the Federation Account despite a significant improvement in their internal revenue generation. Only eight out of the 34 states reported higher internally generated revenue than their personnel expenditure, according to a BudgIT report. The states leading in this regard were Lagos, Enugu, Ogun, Delta, Kaduna, Kwara, Abia, and Anambra.

Bauchi Senator Shehu Buba vehemently denied allegations that he had links to banditry. He dismissed viral videos and social media claims as part of a widespread disinformation campaign targeting his character. Buba, who has previously served as the chairman of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence, has been under scrutiny since 2024 due to these allegations.

In Osun State, Governor Ademola Adeleke announced a probe into disputed chieftaincy titles within Koka town in Obokun Local Government. The governor also mentioned that the 21-day election petition window for the August 15 governorship election had closed, with no petitions filed challenging the results. Adeleke is currently on vacation.
