Amotekun busts foreigners’ criminal network in Ondo

Amotekun Corps, the Ondo State Security Network Agency, has apprehended 21 foreigners suspected of engaging in criminal activities. These individuals, primarily hailing from neighboring West African nations, allegedly posed as phone sellers and repairers while residing in accommodations that did not align with their financial means.

Amotekun Commander Adetunji Adeleye announced the arrest of 53 suspects, charged with a range of offenses including kidnapping, murder, cattle rustling, and diesel theft. The commander revealed that the suspects had received assistance from local collaborators, such as landlords who provided fraudulent documentation for their rental properties.

All 21 suspects have been profiled and are set to be handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service for further investigation and potential prosecution. Additionally, four individuals were detained in Akure North Local Government Area for orchestrating a fake kidnapping incident and spreading false information on social media. Adetunji explained that the initial reports of a kidnapping were false, as it was discovered that one of the complainants involved in the hoax was also an accomplice.

The suspect actually guided security personnel to where the supposed victim had been hiding, confirming that the incident was staged to instill fear and extort money.
