On Monday, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), attended the inauguration of the campaign office of his APM counterpart, Seyi Makinde, in Abuja. The inauguration took place at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja. At the event, Bala Mohammed, the National Leader of the APM and the Governor of Bauchi State, cautioned Nigerians against undervaluing the party and its candidate, Makinde, ahead of the 2027 elections.
He stated, "Whoever disregards us is at his own peril, we are here to reset Nigeria and we are bringing in one of the best human capitals that Nigeria has ever produced at the sub-national and national level, that is Makinde." A video from the inauguration showed Peter Obi seated beside Bala Mohammed. Earlier, on April 25, opposition political parties convened in Ibadan and pledged to unite behind a single presidential candidate to contest against President Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
