Obi attends Makinde’s presidential campaign office inauguration

Peter Obi, candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), declared on Monday that his political rival, Seyi Makinde, from the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), is qualified to serve as the President of Nigeria. Obi made this statement at the inauguration of Makinde’s presidential campaign office in Abuja. He indicated his willingness to collaborate with any candidate who secures victory in the 2027 election, provided the contest was "genuinely" conducted.

Obi emphasized that their primary goal is to foster a united and inclusive Nigeria, and he believes that the candidate contesting the presidency today, his brother Makinde, is indeed qualified. He stressed that this endeavor is not driven by desperation but is aimed at empowering Nigerians to make their informed choice. Obi highlighted the urgent need for unity among politicians, calling for an end to the current state of hunger and poverty afflicting the nation.

He urged all political figures to unite in the pursuit of a new Nigeria, emphasizing that genuine victory in a free, fair, and credible election should lead to collaboration in saving the country from collapse. Obi also called for an end to the divisive politics of quarrel and disagreement, advocating instead for a collective effort to address the fundamental issue of feeding the nation’s people.

He added that the future of Nigeria should not be limited to who can achieve success without connections, but should be a country where everyone has an equal opportunity to rise, regardless of their background.
