Was anti-govt offer reported to authorities, asks MP

Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng questioned whether police had initiated an investigation into the alleged offer to overthrow the government in 2014. PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang suggested that a foreign power once provided assistance to the party to bring down the government during a meeting at the US embassy in 2014, coinciding with US president Barack Obama's visit to Malaysia.

Lim deemed the claim serious and urged the authorities to verify it with evidence, requesting police statements from Hadi and other PAS leaders, as well as identifying the American representative mentioned in the alleged meeting. He questioned whether the offer was merely a political discussion or a plan to unlawfully overthrow the government.

Rajen Sengar Rayer, MP for Jelutong, also advocated for an investigation into Hadi's claim, emphasizing the importance of public knowledge about any discussions held at the meeting. He stated that if the allegation proved true, it would be a matter concerning national security and sovereignty. "The most disturbing aspect is the apparent lack of reporting this alleged meeting to Malaysian authorities," Rayer wrote on Facebook.

In his address, Hadi claimed that PAS leaders Takiyuddin Hassan and Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar attended the US embassy meeting, but neither man was persuaded by the offer of assistance and firmly rejected it.
