Vice President urges Methodist Church to add digital skills to women’s training programmes

Ghana's Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has called on the Methodist Church Ghana to integrate digital skills training into its women's programs, aiming to equip women for the evolving job market. In her remarks at the 3rd Biennial Conference of the Methodist Church Ghana, Northern Accra Diocese Women’s Fellowship, Opoku-Agyemang emphasized that digital skills, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship training are crucial in reducing women's economic reliance and enabling them to seize emerging opportunities.

She highlighted the broader economic benefits of empowering women, stating that financial aid and mentorship can help women transform their knowledge and skills into sustainable livelihoods, thereby creating opportunities for others.

The Vice President also outlined the government's initiatives to boost technical and vocational training for women, including the upcoming launch of the Women’s Development Bank, which is set to offer financial assistance to women and women-led enterprises. She urged the women to amplify the impact of the support they receive by disseminating their knowledge, generating opportunities for others, and addressing the needs of those in distress.

Opoku-Agyemang praised the Women’s Fellowship for its prompt response to the Kantamanto Market fire, describing the act as a manifestation of the Methodist commitment to using faith in service. She also acknowledged the church's contributions to Ghana's development through education, healthcare, and moral guidance, urging the women to continue this legacy of service.

The conference, themed "Walking in the Word, Equipped for Every Good Work," gathered Women’s Fellowship members and other attendees for worship, reflection, and discussions centered on faith, service, and personal growth.
