Vasai-Virar Dahi Handi Accident: 13-Year-Old Boy Seriously Injured, 16 Govindas Hurt

In the Vasai-Virar region, a series of accidents have occurred during the Dahi Handi celebrations, resulting in injuries to 16 Govindas. The majority of these incidents happened when participants lost their balance while forming human pyramids. One particularly severe accident involved a 13-year-old boy who suffered a serious fracture to the bone behind his ear. He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital and is currently under close medical observation.

Another participant reported experiencing severe chest pain following the accident. In total, 376 Govindas were injured across Mumbai during Dahi Handi 2026. While 37 of these individuals are still under treatment, the remaining 286 have been discharged following primary medical care.

Safety concerns have been raised despite the presence of safety arrangements during the celebrations. Authorities have urged Dahi Handi organizers to strictly adhere to all safety guidelines and take necessary precautions to prevent further accidents.
