US aircraft carrier departs Thailand after port call

On 6 September 2026, the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group bid farewell to Thailand following a scheduled port visit, as reported by the US Embassy in Bangkok. The strike group, which comprises the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) and its crew, along with other units assigned to the strike group, departed as planned.

The visit to the coastal cities of Sriracha and Pattaya, conducted alongside the strike group's ongoing operations within the US 7th Fleet area of responsibility, underscored the significance of regional alliances and the United States' enduring commitment to the area. Captain Dan Keeler, commanding officer of the USS Abraham Lincoln, expressed gratitude to the Thai people for their warm hospitality.

The port visit provided the crew with an opportunity to unwind and immerse themselves in Thailand's rich culture and history. Nearly 5,000 sailors and Marines participated in various activities and sightseeing excursions, facilitated by the US Navy's Morale, Welfare and Recreation programme in collaboration with Thai businesses.
