Troops rescue 23 kidnap victims in Zamfara

Operation Fansan Yamma troops rescued 23 individuals who had been kidnapped by terrorists near Wuya Town in Anka, Zamfara State. According to a statement by Col. Aliyu Danja, the military encountered a group of terrorists on a combat patrol and managed to free the 23 victims. The rescues included three adult males and 20 females.

The victims had been abducted from Gummi Local Government Area and held captive for approximately three weeks. They are currently receiving medical attention and support before being reunited with their families.

In another operation, troops in Bungudu LGA received intelligence that armed bandits were attempting to abduct residents in Dankurmi Town. Upon learning of the threat, the army mobilized to the area and engaged the attackers in a fierce firefight. The superior firepower of the security forces caused the bandits to flee without capturing anyone.

Bloodstains found along the terrorists' retreat route suggest that several attackers sustained serious gunshot wounds during the confrontation. The army stated that they have maintained a strong presence in the affected areas and continue to pursue the fleeing terrorists while strengthening security along critical routes and communities across the state.
