Trailer truck bursts into flames in Chon Buri

A trailer truck carrying concrete pipes burst into flames on the Kabin Buri to Sattahip road in Chon Buri on September 4th. The vehicle, a 22-wheel truck, was en route from Thung Sadao in Plaeng Yao district, Chachoengsao province, to Nong Ri subdistrict in Mueang Chon Buri district. As it traveled along the Kabin Buri to Sattahip road, the driver and a passenger, Sakolwat, 18 years old, were forced to flee the vehicle when flames engulfed the cab and front section.

Upon receiving a report shortly after 1.30pm, rescue foundation and Nong Hiang Subdistrict Administrative Organisation firefighters rushed to the scene. It took them about 20 minutes to bring the blaze under control. The trailer, stopped on the road at the time, sustained severe damage to its cab and front, while the concrete pipes on the trailer bed remained unharmed.

Sakolwat stated that the truck had started acting erratically during the journey. Smoke began to emanate from the front of the cab, followed by rapid-fire spread of flames that compelled the occupants to abandon the truck and call for assistance. He further noted that the accelerator seemed to have stuck just prior to the smoke and fire incident. The origin of the fire is currently under investigation.
