Thomas and Arnold lead UNLV past Hawaii 21-6 to win fourth straight Island Showdown

Hai Den Thomas scored a touchdown on 143 rushing yards, while Jackson Arnold added 89 yards and two touchdowns along with 116 passing yards. Despite Hawaii's late-season comeback attempt, UNLV secured a 21-6 victory in the Island Showdown on Saturday night. This win marked UNLV's fourth consecutive win in the rivalry. Hawaii, currently 0-2, outgained the Rebels 185-147 in the second half but ultimately failed to score additional points.

UNLV, ranked 1-1, outgained Hawaii 364-294 and maintained a 14-3 first-half lead. The second half saw Hawaii's drives end with turnovers, punts, and a critical interception that sealed the game for UNLV. After Hawaii's punt, Thomas broke free on the first play of UNLV's drive for a 50-yard rushing score, securing a two-score advantage.

With Micah Alejado's first interception and the game's first turnover at the 3:47 mark of the fourth quarter, the Rebels ran out the clock to claim their first victory of the season. Hawaii will next host New Mexico State next Saturday.
