U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Licht emphasized the need for timely deployment of military assets from allied and friendly nations outside the Hormuz corridor to ensure the safety of vessels passing through, according to statements made during interviews with Fox News and SNN. As the U.S. reviews expanding military contributions in the Hormuz corridor, Licht's remarks come as a call for broader involvement from allied nations.

Licht told Fox News that "many other countries have contacted us," expressing that they "want to cooperate with us and help." He reiterated that "right now, the military assets we are involved in are within our area of operations." Licht also expressed his hope for more such assets arriving from outside the corridor, stating, "I think we can make that happen if we work with the U.S. Navy."

During an interview with SNN, Licht stressed the necessity of U.S. naval support for the safe passage of tankers through the Hormuz corridor. When asked if the ongoing U.S. military role could become the new norm, Licht responded, "Today, it seems to be so. I believe other countries will come and join us in this effort." He concluded that "global trade is important, and it should not be America's sole responsibility."
