Sri Aman only area with very unhealthy API reading of 216 as of 4pm, with no hazardous readings nationwide

The Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 216 in Sri Aman, Sarawak, stands as the sole area nationwide with a very unhealthy air quality level as of 4 PM today. No other region reported hazardous API readings, with the rest of the country experiencing varying degrees of pollution.

Thirty-five areas nationwide reported unhealthy API levels, while 27 areas recorded moderate readings, and four areas had good air quality. Sarawak, the worst-affected state, had 11 areas with unhealthy air quality, including Samalaju, Samarahan, Kuching, Bintulu, Mukah, Sarikei, IPD Serian, ILP Miri, Sibu, Miri, and Limbang. Kapit was the only station in Sarawak to record a moderate API reading of 90.

In Selangor, six areas - Johan Setia, Shah Alam, Kuala Selangor, Petaling Jaya, Klang, and Banting, along with Batu Muda and Cheras in Kuala Lumpur; Putrajaya and Labuan - also reported unhealthy API readings. Other states with unhealthy air quality included Pahang (Jerantut, Temerloh), Negeri Sembilan (Nilai, Seremban, Port Dickson), Sabah (Kota Kinabalu, Kimanis), and Perak (Tanjung Malim).

Southern Malaysia also experienced unhealthy air quality in Johor (Segamat, Tangkak, Batu Pahat, Kluang) and Melaka (Alor Gajah, Bukit Rambai). An API reading of 0 to 50 denotes good air quality, 51 to 100 indicates moderate, 101 to 200 suggests unhealthy, 201 to 300 signifies very unhealthy, and 300 and above indicates hazardous conditions.
