Riley Greene homers twice, drives in 4 runs in the Tigers’ 6-0 win over the Guardians

On Saturday night, the Detroit Tigers secured a decisive 6-0 triumph over the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field. Leading the charge for Detroit was outfielder Riley Greene, who drove in four runs and smashed two solo home runs. Greene's first blast sailed over the left-center field wall in the top of the first inning, while a subsequent shot in the sixth inning extended Detroit's lead to 3-0.

Greene also contributed to the scoring in the third and seventh innings, marking his first home runs since August 4 and his second multi-homer game of the season. Framber Valdez, the Guardians' starting pitcher, battled through seven innings, allowing three hits and striking out three while walking just one. The Guardians, despite going hitless after the second inning, only managed to load up two runners past first base and totaled just three hits against the Tigers' trio of Valdez, Kyle Finnegan and Beau Brieske.

Marcus Stroman, the Guardians' starting pitcher, missed his third start of the season due to a left-side strain and was replaced by Matt Festa. Cleveland was without Chase DeLauter, their outfielder, who is day-to-day with a sprained right wrist. The win marked Detroit's fifth victory in 21 games since August 14.
