Red Cross to set up blood bank, Thalassemia ward at Kukatpally

The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) in Medchal-Malkajgiri district is constructing a state-of-the-art blood bank and Thalassemia ward at Kukatpally to enhance transfusion services for patients who require them. This new facility will occupy a 1,000 square yard plot of government land that has been surveyed and fenced. The IRCS is presently seeking the required permissions to commence the project, which is estimated to cost ₹4.5 crore.

The establishment of the blood bank and dedicated Thalassemia ward will be funded by corporate social responsibility (CSR) contributions and a 30% grant from the Raj Bhavan authorities. The new facility will incorporate a cutting-edge blood bank, advanced medical equipment, a mobile blood collection unit, and a specialized Thalassemia ward, according to S.M.

Rajeshwar, the chairman of the IRCS Medchal-Malkajgiri district branch. Additionally, the district branch has proposed setting up a trauma care center and a blood bank at Shamirpet to offer emergency medical aid to accident victims on the Outer Ring Road and those residing in nearby villages. The proposed Shamirpet facility will be situated on a 0.19 guntas plot of land in Upparpally village, which has already been cleared, had boundary walls erected, and been granted access to a borewell.
