Prabhakar Kore highlights vital role of Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons

Prabhakar Kore, the former head of KLE Society and chancellor of KAHER & KLE Technological University, opened the 13th annual conference of the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India (AOMSI) on Saturday. The Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at KLE VK IDS hosted the event, which had a theme of "Evolving Concepts and Clinical Excellence".

Over 280 delegates took part in the gathering, according to a statement. Dr. Kore emphasized that oral cancer was common in north Karnataka and that Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons played a crucial role in treating these cases. He stated that KLE SS Shivanagi Cancer Hospital offered advanced treatments for such patients. Dr. Kore noted that just a few decades ago, there were few Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons in the region, but now, the area boasts some of the finest in their field.

Vishwanath M. Pattanshetti, the Registrar of KAHER, underscored the critical role of Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons in restoring patients' faces, a vital part of their bodies. KAOSMI secretary Girish Gowda highlighted the surgeons' role in restoring the facial form of patients. The annual report of KAOSMI was presented by Venkatesh Anehosur, the president of the organization.

Venkatesh Anehosur discussed initiatives to enhance academic activities and surgical skills for postgraduates. Ashish Gupta, the president of AOSMI, talked about social security measures for Oral Maxillofacial Surgeons and cancer treatment for those who could not afford it. Kanteshwari I.K., the principal of KLE VKIDS, informed that the institution had produced many highly qualified dental professionals.

Shridhar Baliga, the organizing chairman, delivered the welcome remarks. Sanjay Rao, along with Aarti Neeli Padmaraj Hegde, Manu Prasad, and others, attended the event.
