PTI activist Falak Javed granted post-arrest bail in ‘police attack’ case

Lahore witnessed a significant legal development on Saturday as an anti-terrorism court granted bail to Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf activist Falak Javed in a case related to a "police attack." Judge Malik Abid Hussain approved the activist's bail application and instructed her to provide surety bonds amounting to Rs100,000. The prosecution presented the case record, while Falak Javed's legal counsel concluded his arguments regarding the bail petition.

Falak Javed's defense attorney argued that the woman had a legal right to be released on bail due to her gender. He contended that the investigation had concluded and there was no justification for her continued detention. In contrast, the state counsel refuted the bail plea, asserting that the suspect was implicated in an assault on Islamabad police officials outside Zaman Park. The state counsel claimed that a petrol bomb had been recovered from her during the investigation.

According to the prosecution, Islamabad police had visited the residence of PTI founding chairman Imran Khan to deliver summons. The prosecution alleged that angered PTI party workers hurled petrol bombs at the police, causing injury to several officers. The Racecourse police registered FIR No. 410/2023 in connection with the alleged attack on police.
