Police confirm shooting of wanted drug suspect in Seremban housing area

Seremban police have confirmed the fatal shooting of a drug suspect in a residential area of the town early today. Negeri Sembilan's top cop, Datuk Alzafny Ahmad, stated the incident took place at 1.50pm. Additional information will be released by the Narcotics Crime Investigation Department director at Seremban District Police Headquarters, according to reports.

"Yes, I confirm the incident," the chief told reporters. The suspect, thought to be in his 50s, had a history of eight drug and criminal offenses and was also sought in connection with a kidnapping case. A local resident, who wished to remain anonymous, witnessed the event while at home after prayers. He heard what sounded like multiple gunshots but did not observe them through his window, as he was indoors.

"After that, I saw many patrol cars and the road leading to the scene was cordoned off with police tape, with vehicles barred from entering. This is the first time such an incident has occurred in this residential area. We are concerned about our safety should a similar incident happen again," he said. The senior citizen also mentioned that about a week ago, residents noticed several suspicious cars parked near the area at midnight.
