Pierre Jr. scores twice in South Dakota’s 38-23 win over Northern Colorado

Charles Pierre Jr. rushed for two touchdowns, while Tennel Bryant took his only carry for a score, as South Dakota defeated Northern Colorado 38-23 on Saturday. The Coyotes claimed their first road victory of the season since 2017, and their fifth consecutive win against Northern Colorado. Following the Bears' late first-quarter touchdown pass, the Coyotes answered with three touchdowns before halftime.

Tennel Bryant broke free for a 46-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter, and Charles Pierre Jr. added an 11-yard score. Austyn Modrzewski connected with Brayden White for a 10-yard touchdown, extending the Coyotes' lead to 14 points. Northern Colorado managed to get within four points with a field goal and a lengthy scoring drive but was unable to close the gap once Charles Pierre Jr. scored again.

Bryce Cohoon added a 22-yard pass in the fourth quarter, further widening the South Dakota's lead. Kenny Lueth, the Bears' quarterback, completed 201 yards on 19-of-29 passing for the Bears. Trey Olsen of Northern Colorado caught three passes for 61 yards. South Dakota will host Eastern Washington in their next game, while Northern Colorado will travel to face FBS member Wyoming.
